Scaling Up Original Artworks: How Technology Opened New Possibilities

As an artist, one of the most exciting feelings is when a client truly connects with your work and wants to make it a centrepiece of their space. But what if the size of the original piece doesn't quite fit their vision? Thanks to modern scanning and printing technologies, this no longer has to be a limitation.

I recently had a client from Sydney who fell in love with one of my smaller 25cm x 25cm paintings. The only issue? She needed a 100cm x 100cm Artwork for her living room. In the past, this request may have been impossible or required recreating the entire piece from scratch.

However, by working with the Left Bank Art Group, we were able to take a high-resolution scan of the original painting and print it at the desired larger size with incredible quality and precision.

Using their advanced large-format printers and equipment, they were able to scale up every brushstroke and detail flawlessly. The final 100cm x 100cm piece was then float framed with Tasmanian Oak wood and protective, non-reflective Art Glass - making it perfect for showcasing in a bright, sun-exposed space.

The end result was remarkable. All the vibrancy, texture and energy of the original painting was maintained, just on a grander scale. My client was over the moon and said the larger size made the piece even more striking as a focal point of her living room.

This experience showed me how evolving digital technologies can open up so many new possibilities for artists in reproducing and scaling their work for clients.

One very happy client!
